New Fontist sites developed and deployed, contributed by Jacob Hummer
The Fontist project has always been a community effort, and today we want to express our heartfelt thanks to Jacob Hummer for his exceptional contributions to the Fontist ecosystem.
A significant contribution
In early 2024, Jacob submitted two major pull requests that transformed how users interact with Fontist documentation:
PR #358: Host Fontist documentation in-repo using VitePress — a complete documentation site with 2,621 lines of new code.
PR #174: Create a searchable formulas website at fontist.org/formulas/ — making it easy to discover and explore the 2,000+ font formulas available.
Why this matters
Before Jacob's work, Fontist's documentation was scattered across multiple locations, making it harder for users to find the information they needed. Jacob consolidated everything into well-organized, searchable documentation sites using VitePress.
His implementation includes:
- Full-text search for all Fontist formulas
- Fully migrated documentation from the previous site
- Individual formula pages for each of the 2,000+ font formulas
- A clean, modern design
The impact
Thanks to Jacob's meticulous work, Fontist users can now:
- Quickly find installation instructions and usage guides
- Search through all available font formulas
- Browse comprehensive API documentation
- Contribute to documentation more easily
Jacob describes himself as "a far too meticulous web developer" — and we certainly benefited from that attention to detail!
